National Highways required a flexible meeting environment within its Cathedral Square offices in Guildford—capable of supporting both large collaborative sessions and smaller, more focused meetings.
As part of the wider workplace fit-out, workplace specialists Overbury approached London Wall to deliver a movable wall solution that combined acoustic performance, operational flexibility, and a premium architectural finish. The objective was to create a versatile conferencing environment that could function either as one large presentation and collaboration space or as two separate conference rooms operating independently.
Given the inclusion of integrated teleconferencing facilities, acoustic separation and ease of operation were key considerations to ensure both spaces could be used simultaneously without disruption.
The solution also needed to complement the contemporary interior design scheme while maintaining a refined, professional appearance throughout the workplace. London Wall supplied and installed a Type 100 movable wall system designed to provide high levels of flexibility and acoustic performance within the space.
The multiple-panel system allows the conference area to transition quickly between one large meeting space and two fully functional independent rooms. When opened, the panels stack neatly away, preserving the openness and usability of the overall floorplan. The flexibility of the system enables the spaces to adapt easily to changing daily requirements, from presentations and collaborative workshops to private meetings and video conferencing sessions. Panels were finished in a vertically laid oak veneer, complete with a clear lacquer finish.
